December 2023, Issue 12

Dear BSBMTCT member,

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Very Blessed , Restful and Joyful Festive Period. We hope you all manage to get some well deserved rest and spend time with your loved ones. It has been an incredibly busy and productive year and we Thank You for all the support. We look forward to serving and working more closely with you; our community in the coming year. Happy New Year and see you in 2024!

Following feedback from our recent BSBMTCT Education Day in November, we received an overall score of 8.9/10 for programme content. Thank you for such excellent feedback and we hope to be able to repeat this again in our upcoming meetings. Thank you also for suggestions for future talks.

Our One-off Grant round for the EBMT Congress in Glasgow 2024 has proved extremely successful, we have received just under 40 application this year from our 50 member centres. We were able to support 33 applicants with over £20K worth of grants. Congratulations to all our applicants and we wish you a successful meeting.

We are delighted to also see so many abstracts being submitted to EBMT 2024 as a result of studies and surveys from our BSBMTCT CTSC group. Good Luck to all those submitting abstracts!

It is with immense sadness that we share news of the death of our colleague Dr Richard Szydlo. He died on 18th December 2023 after a long battle with cancer.

Richard was a kind, compassionate, optimistic and multi-talented colleague and a brilliant Statistician. Our lives will be poorer without him. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.

We would like to remind you of the upcoming events in 2024:

  • BSBMTCT Scientific Day – Wednesday 22nd May 2024
  • BSBMTCT Education Day – Thursday 7th November 2024

Our Very Best Wishes, Eduardo Olavarria, John Snowden, Deborah Richardson, Fiona Dignan, Harpreet Kaur & Julia Lee
