Dear BSBMTCT member,
We hope everyone is well and looking forward to Spring when it arrives! The past two months have been busy for the BSBMTCT and below we share some of the highlights.
You will be aware that we launched our new BSBMTCT Strategic Plan 2025-2030 during January 2025. If you haven’t had a chance to read through it, we would highly commend it to you. It can be downloaded from our website at https://bsbmtct.org/bsbmtct-strategic-plan-2025-2030/ Within the Plan we talk about taking a more strategic and proactive approach to the forging of beneficial alliances that will enable us all to improve patient outcomes though advancing the fields of blood and marrow transplantation and cellular therapy. We are keen to ensure coherence and collective endeavour between all who play an important role in this, avoiding duplication. To this end, our priority has been to meet with potential partners seeking to understand how we can magnify our impact by working more closely. We have been meeting with representatives from Anthony Nolan, NHSBT, ACT/DiDACT, and the NBTA/ACLT as key organisations within our community. We have also met with a number of other national charities and a global leader in clinical databases and web registries, and have further meetings arranged. The early signs are very encouraging, with a recognition that through the sharing of strategic assets, we will achieve more together. We are committed to five strategic aims, and are focussing initially on increased capacity and registry development.
We announced in our last bulletin that we have 3 vacancies within the BSBMTCT, Chair of Indications Sub Committee and 2 Co-Chairs for the Clinical Trials Sub Committee. We are delighted that we have some fantastic applications for these roles. The voting process for centres began on Thursday 27th February, deadline for voting is midnight Friday 21st March. Each centre programme director gets one vote. Please email Julia.lee@kcl.ac.uk if you have any questions.
The BSBMTCT has submitted a response to the 2025/26 NHS Payment Scheme consultation as requested by members. This was to highlight the importance of payment following BMT activity to maintain the sustainability of these important services to patients. More information can be found here NHS England » 2025/26 NHS Payment Scheme consultation
We are still chasing some membership payments from 2024; we would be grateful if you could please expedite these payments. The 2025 membership subscription invoices will be sent to all centres in April and the Trustees have decided that there will not be an increase in membership fees this year.
We would like to highlight our upcoming event: BSBMTCT Scientific Day – on Wednesday 21st May – Hybrid Event from the Cavendish Conference Centre, 22 Duchess Mews, London W1G 9DT. Full programme and registration now available: https://bsbmtct.org/events/bsbmtct-scientific-day/ We hope to see as many of you there.
