January 2024, Issue 1

Dear BSBMTCT member,

Welcome to our first edition of the BSBMTCT Bulletin for 2024. We hope this New Year brings you all an abundance of Good Health, Happiness and Productivity.

We are delighted to announce that we have successfully funded 33 applicants who applied for a meeting grant to attend EBMT Congress 2024 in Glasgow between the 14th to 17th April. We wish you all a successful meeting and we are looking forward to hearing all about it in due course.

The registry team have recently announced that they will extend the deadline for the BSBMTCT Executive Summary/Commissioner’s Report data submissions from 5pm Friday April to close of play Friday 3rd May 2024. This also means that the report and subsequent centre reports will not be available until October 2024 for paid members. We hope this extension will help centres who have inherited a backlog due to the recent launch of the new EBMT registry.

The board have recently decided to form a new BSBMTCT Complications Sub Committee, this will allow for a dedicated forum to discuss complications such as GVHD. Dr Francesca Kinsella has kindly agreed to be the interim Chair of this new committee. Elections for an official chair will be announced shortly. If you are interested in being part of this new SC, then please do email francesca.kinsella@uhb.nhs.uk

We would like to remind you all to send us a copy of your Informed Consent Forms (ICFs) if you are not adopting the EBMT ICF form. Rob Wosley; Chair of JACIE UK & Ireland Quality Managers’ Forum has been collating them on behalf of the BSBMTCT. Please send your forms to either rob.wosley@nhs.net or Julia.lee@kcl.ac.uk if you haven’t done so already.
