Dear BSBMTCT member,
We hope you have all been able to enjoy the Spring Bank Holiday period. We have several important announcements and updates to share with you…
Chief Executive Appointment
Now that the pre-employment checks are complete, we are delighted to announce the appointment of David Reynolds as permanent Chief Executive of the BSBMTCT, initially on an 18-month basis. David commences this new 4-day role on 1 June 2026.
As many of you will know, David has worked with the BSBMTCT since May 2021 as a Charity Consultant and became Interim CEO in November 2024. During this time, he has worked closely with the Board, Executive Committee and key strategic partners to help lay strong foundations for the implementation of the Society’s Strategic Plan (2025–2030). David has played a central role in supporting the BSBMTCT’s modernisation work, strategic review and development of the Society’s first Strategic Plan, whilst also helping strengthen relationships with key stakeholders and partners. We hope you will join us in congratulating David and wishing him well in this new role. We look forward to the next phase of the Society’s development.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Hugh Allen, Chief Strategy Officer at Anthony Nolan, for his ongoing support, and to Henny Braund MBE, Chief Executive of Anthony Nolan, for her guidance throughout the appointment process alongside Debbie, Fiona and Julia on the interview panel. We are also extremely grateful to Anthony Nolan for its financial support in helping make this appointment possible as a valued strategic partner.
25th Anniversary of the BSBMTCT Data Registry
Did you know that this year marks the 25th anniversary of our BSBMTCT Data Registry which began in 2001. We have a huge amount to celebrate, and will mark some of these achievements at our BSBMTCT Education Day on 5 November 2026. Please hold this date in your diaries and come and join us for the celebrations. You may have noticed that the BSBMTCT staff team have been using the new 25th anniversary edition of the logo designed by our Senior Data Manager, Marie Wilson. We hope you love it as much as we do.

BSBMTCT Scientific Day 2026
It was lovely to see many of you, both in person and online, at our Scientific Day on the 6 May 2026 at the Cavendish Conference Centre. We enjoyed presentations from a distinguished panel of speakers and would like to thank Dr Yisu Gu, Professor Hendrik Poeck, Dr Pavan Reddy, Dr Benjamin Mullish and Dr Ernst Holler. We would also like to thank the speakers who gave us an update on the IMPACT Trials and all those who presented as part of the John Goldman Abstract Prize competition.
Congratulations to our two winners of the John Goldman Abstract Prize, Dr Jennifer Vidler on their presentation on Immune profiles in recipients of DLI, and Dr Rachel Peck on their presentation on Determinants of CD34+ yield. We wish you all the very best in your future work and look forward to seeing more updates soon.
Last but not least, we would like to thank our sponsors for making this event possible. We are very grateful for your ongoing support.
