November 2023, Issue 11

Dear BSBMTCT member,

It was great to see many of you at the BSBMTCT Education Day held on the 1st November in memory of Dr Paul Miller. We had a range of excellent speakers who we would like to Thank. Also a huge congratulations to our Past President Professor John Snowden for receiving a BSBMTCT Award for Outstanding Services to BMT Patients and the Transplant Community.

November has been a busy time for meetings and we had a very successful and productive BSBMTCT CTSC Autumn meeting on the 6th November, with lots of discussions on existing and upcoming retrospective studies and surveys. We are looking to submit a few abstracts to EBMT Congress 2024!

On the 23rd November we held our 6th Data Management Training day, this was a fully virtual event with the theme, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), we had a number of speakers which gave us some real food for thought on this important subject.

And lastly we would like to remind you of the upcoming EBMT Congress and how we can support:

  • EBMT 50th Annual Congress 14-17th April 2024, Glasgow
    • The BSBMTCT are dedicated to support and fund opportunities for early career grade staff from member centres to attend meetings each year. To celebrate EBMT 2024 being it’s 50th and in the UK, the BSBMTCT have decided to launch a one-off grant round to ensure that as many of it’s early career grade staff members are able to attend. Deadline extended to 5pm Thursday 14th December.
    • More information found here https://bsbmtct.org/bsbmtct-meeting-grants/.

Our Very Best Wishes, Eduardo Olavarria, John Snowden, Deborah Richardson, Fiona Dignan, Harpreet Kaur & Julia Lee
