Some of you may already be familiar with the BSBMT which was established in 1995. The addition of the Data Registry came later in 2001 which coincided with the BSBMT becoming a European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) National Registry.
In 2019 the BSBMT underwent a name change and became the British Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (BSBMTCT) to reflect the new advances in treatment such as CAR-T.
The BSBMTCT is a non profit organisation and became a registered Charity (registered number 1125795) on 9th September 2008.
The BSBMTCT is multifaceted and disseminates data and information in a variety of ways. The BSBMTCT is well respected and interacts with many organisations within the Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) and Cellular Therapy community within which good working relationships have been formed.
This module will introduce the BSBMTCT to the reader and explain the role they hold within the world of BMT and Cellular Therapy in the UK and Republic of Ireland (RoI) and the services they provide.
This module will cover all the areas listed in the “arrows” below in Diagram 1.
