“The International Quality Forum for JACIE Centres (formerly JACIE Quality Forum UK & Ireland) was established in 2004 (with 6 members!) and is run by a group of Quality professionals from across the UK” . We were originally known as the Blood and Marrow Transplant Quality Forum UK & Ireland. Our reputation spread as our membership grew and we are now the International Quality Forum for JACIE Centres, with 158 members across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Mexico and Australasia.

Anne Emmett (Honorary Member). Anne was one of the founding members of the UK & Ireland JACIE Quality Forum and recently retired as QM at GOSH. She is a leading JACIE Inspector, a member of the JACIE Quality Managers Committee, and sits on the JACIE Accreditation Committee. She was a regular co-author of JACIE standards. Anne will retire from JACIE activities at the EBMT conference in Madrid in 2026. The committee and members past and present wish to recognise her immense contribution to our community and wish her well for her retirement.

The Committee also gives ad hoc advice and guidance to members.

  • There are currently 158 active members listed, from the UK, Eire, Australia, Finland, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain and Germany. Members are from NHS, NHSBT and private and other state healthcare organisations. 52 hospitals and 6 private sector organisations are represented
  • The forum aims to provide education in HSCT and Cellular Therapies, and Quality Assurance principles and techniques, to Quality professionals in the field of Haematology transplantation. We aim to share best practices, support developing programmes and also raise the profile of Quality professionals in this sector.
  • We aim to hold two meetings a year, one virtually, and one hybrid. We usually look at Spring and Autumn for meeting dates.
  • Aspirations for the future are to develop a baseline job description and minimum NHS pay banding for UK Quality managers with help from BSBMTCT’s Workforce Development working group.

Here is a short video of Rob and Arti which was recorded at the BSBMTCT Scientific Day. It was a rare moment that we were all together in person so we seized it. As you can imagine the auditorium was very busy so please excuse any background noise.

We want to acknowledge the work of the Committee members past and present, the tireless support of Anne Emmett, who until recently ran our LinkedIn page and did so much more to organise the forum meetings and present regular updates on the JACIE standards amongst other things. Also, we would like to acknowledge the support, skill and expertise of Ruth Paul and Julia Lee from BSBMTCT who have helped us make this project a reality.
