ANALYSIS : MEDB AND MEDA/B COMBINATION CENTRES

Analysis: Med-B or Combination Med-B and Med-A Centres

Responding centres:

A total of 6 centres responded in this category 1 centre  answered both surveys (Med-A only and the Med-B only or combination Med-B and Med-A survey). Different DMS within different teams (adult Vs Paediatric) completed the surveys. This further identifies that teams within centres complete different types of forms.

Please specify why you use Med-B HSCT forms (e.g. for study data, for your own records):

Centre Response:

To enter additional information into the EBMT database.
 for EBMT study
To collect more study data than Med-A forms
For site/team records, information and reports. Colleagues sometimes request data regarding Allo patients that are only captured in Med-B forms, such as infection or GvHD related figures. I also find that Med-B items are quite often requested/included as part of EBMT studies and it would take longer to complete or check the work if it hadn’t already been captured at registration & Day 100.
 Study data Centre outcomes.
Captures more data points than Med-A, which is helpful when completing research spreadsheets and for our own records.

If only certain Med-B HSCT items are required, please list these:

Centre Response:

Med-A items are required. The data manager chooses whether to enter Med-B HSCT information.
 do,d100,follow up.
Autologous items are required but we do not do allografts so those are not required.
Virology, History fungal infection, Cell counts, Chimerism, Complications, Karnofsky.

Approximately how many Med-B HSCT forms (irrespective of form type) do you complete or enter in 1 year?

Centre Response:

 Unknown
about 170*3
 30
Approx 50
140-150 Day 0 140-150 Day 100 All required follow ups from previous years
Approx 12

If Med-B HSCT forms cannot be entered for a period of time, what impact would this have on you as a centre? Please specify:

Centre Response:

 None.
can’t say exactly.
Not much as they could be completed on paper then submitted to the database thereafter.
It would make local data analysis more cumbersome.
We won’t have all data required for our centre outcomes and incoming studies.
It wouldn’t impact clinical staff as the data isn’t usually needed for anything in the immediate aftermath but it would create a backlog for myself as a data manager which would be time consuming to catch up with.
